POWERHOUSES PROPELLING GREATER HARTFORD.
T
hey find fuel in favorable government support, high-profile
research universities, a diverse talent pool and an unquenchable
thirst for innovation.
"We have a longstanding point of view that health care is an
economic driver, and it can and should play a significant role
in a region's prosperity," said Jeff Flaks, CEO of Hartford HealthCare, a
health system with 33,000 employees and annual operating revenue of
$4.3 billion.
The sector's influence can be felt from the hospital bed to the research
lab, with players like the Jackson Laboratory for Genomic Medicine in
Farmington and the University of Connecticut Technology Innovation Park,
an incubator for biotech startups. According to MetroHartford Alliance,
TRINITY HEALTH HELD several tributes, such
as the one above, for its front-line workers
during the Covid-19 pandemic.
