The Hartford suburb spans
roughly 22 square miles and
is home to more than 63,000
people, as well as a bevy of parks,
golf courses and historic sites
dating back to the Colonial era. It
was first seled in the late 1600s.
More than 300 years later, it con-
tinues to aract young families
like the Santiagos.
Santiago and his family are
big fans of Westmoor Park, a
162-acre park that houses a
demonstration farm, expansive
gardens and three miles of
nature trails.
Another araction is West
Hartford Center, a walkable
enclave of restaurants and shops.
"It's really nice to be able
to have tons of date-night
options without having to go
far," said Santiago, who is CEO
of CompassMSP, a managed
services provider.
The suburb also is a short
drive from the theaters and art
museums of downtown Hartford,
as well as to points farther afield,
including beaches and ski resorts.
"It's a great home base,"
Santiago said.
