Former Franklin manufacturing CFO pleads guilty to embezzling $800K Robert Saltzberg, 68, admitted guilty to one count of mail fraud and five counts of filing false tax returns in his $800,000 embezzlement from Franklin precision metal fabrication Resh, Inc., where he served as CFO. According to prosecutors, Saltzberg from 1998 through 2014 wrote checks paying company funds to himself or for his personal expenses. He would then record the expenditures as business expenses. McGourthy named state economic development deputy secretary Tim McGourthy, executive director of the Worcester Regional Research Bureau since 2014, has been hired as deputy secretary in the state's Executive Office of Hous- ing & Economic Development. McGourthy is a former chief development officer for the city of Worcester and CEO of the Worcester Redevelopment Authority. Fairlawn Rehab picks new CEO An executive for the northeast division of a national healthcare provider has been appointed to be the new CEO of Worcester's Fairlawn Rehabilitation Hospital. Anne Roper, a Northbridge resident and former northeast regional vice president and controller for Alabama-based Encompass Health, will take over leadership of the 110-bed hospital, which is an affili- ate of Encompass. Roper is a former president of Fairlawn's board of directors and is a member of the Massachusetts Hospital Association. Roper's appointment comes aer her predecessor, Mary Louise D'Avino, was appointed to the role in August 2017. Plastics manufacturer sells facility Plastics injection molding company AL-SCO In- dustries has sold its manufacturer $65,000-square-foot warehouse in Sturbridge has sold for $4 million to G5 Enterprises, a firm registered to a Perry Neddo at 44 River St. in Southbridge. Saint-Gobain names new CEO French building material manufacturer Saint- Gobain, with a large presence in Worcester, has named a new North America CEO who once oversaw oper- ations in the city. Mark Rayfield, the CEO of Certain- Teed, the company's building materials division, will take over for Tom Kinisky, who will become chairman of Saint-Gobain in North America and chief innovation officer for the entire company. Rayfield used to be vice president and general man- ager of Saint-Gobain Abrasives, based in Worcester. API sells electronics biz for $15M Marlborough-based API Technologies Corp. has sold its electronics manufacturing services business, API Defense USA, to Norwegian manufacturing firm Kitron for $14.8 million. e business was located in Windber, Pa. and specialized in the manufacturing, testing and repair services of electronic components. e move now allows API to be more focused on the company's RF/microwave, microelectronics, electro- magnetic integrated solutions, power solutions and secure systems and information assurance businesses.
