Last year, we distributed over 2 million meals, including over nine million pounds of fresh produce to Maine's most vulner- able neighbors. We continue to collaborate with other community programs including schools and health care organizations to remove barriers to food access as well as to better integrate our work with other programs. Most recently, we broke ground on a new distribu- tion center in Hampden, allowing us to better serve central, northern, and Downeast Maine. is new facility will enable us to reach our bold goal that by 2025 all food insecure Mainers will have access to the healthy food they need to thrive. What's ahead: A year of construction in Hampden. We anticipate opening the facility in spring 2019 to be ready for next year's growing season. We are also building on our "shortening the line" strategies, including continuing to research how we can leverage the work of the Food Bank to support Maine's food- producing businesses and piloting a warehouse training program. Advice: Every new opportunity should be viewed with, "Will I learn something new or acquire a new skill?" People don't care what your title is, they care about what skills and experiences you have cultivated. 2015 T H E L I S T F O C U S G R E AT E R B A N G O R mainebiz.biz / printsub S U B S C R I B E S E E W H O ' S N E X T O N PA G E 4 2 » Hannaford Bros. What the company does: Beverages marketer and distributor What's changed: I now partici- pate as an active owner at Pine State Beverage, serving on our board of directors and our health care com- mittee, but have retired f rom the day-to-day business. What's ahead: I am deeply rooted in a community eff ort to rebuild the Kennebec Valley Boys and Girls Club. Many of our employees rely on the club's services so that they can come to work each day knowing their child is being nurtured. I am also thrilled to be serving as the vice chair of the Bangor Savings Bank board and as a member of the Gelato Fiasco and Mitchell Institute boards. is is a great phase in my life and I am especially pleased to be sending more time with my son and to be giving back through volunteering. Advice: Network and be of service to other women. Having a vast network of women across Maine to lean on over the past 0 years has been a game-changer for me.
