Maine jobs related to global trade have increased 26% since 2009. An initiative of MITC, StudyMaine is a consortium of Maine high schools, colleges, and universities designed to connect educational institutions with international students who want to attend high school or college in the United States. International students contribute $82 million annually to Maine's economy. Over 30,000 Mainers work for companies with foreign ownership. Invest in Maine is a partnership between Maine International Trade Center (MITC) and the Maine Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD) established to attract investment and encourage job creation. Internships in International Trade MITC's Future Global Leaders intern- ship program teaches global market and workplace skills to some of the best and brightest Maine college students.
