www.HartfordBusiness.com July 17, 2017 • Hartford Business Journal 21 David Ciriello Q&A: What do you do in your current job? I oversee the exe- cution of large-scale IT transformation projects for our clients. This includes working on-site to respond to challenges, managing large teams, and working closely with executives. I am KPMG's lead director on one of our largest state government accounts and serve on the leadership team of our national Health and Human Services practice. What are your goals in your current job? To look for convergence between public and private sector IT transformation approaches that can lead to success- ful projects and innovative solutions for our clients What's your biggest passion? My biggest passion is my family and spending time with them here in Connecti- cut. I'm also passionate about supporting kids. I've been fortunate to work with many leading organizations that help kids including the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, Make A Wish, Camp Sunshine, Spe- cial Olympics, Ronald McDonald, Give Kids the World, and others. It is always an honor to meet these families and learn from their strength. What are your future professional aspirations? At KPMG I focus exclusively on public-sector projects often in the health and human services arena. I aspire to continue to learn new approaches to managing HHS engagements as this industry continues to change and adapt. I also would like to teach in the field of management to share my experiences and con- tinue to publish articles to support project manage- ment practitioners and students. How are you involved in the community? Hands-on vol- unteer since college, including as a befriender on a sui- cide hotline for five years, as a counselor for 10 years at a camp for children with life-threatening illnesses, as an auxiliary police officer with the NYPD, and with Make A Wish, Ronald McDonald, and hospitals in Connecticut. If you were governor of Connecticut for a day what is one policy you'd push to improve the state's future? I would support policies that help children at risk of physical and emotional harm. This is a broad area with numerous aspects including trafficking, abuse and neglect, foster care, child safety, and mental health programs to name a few. Specifically, I would focus on expanding the CT AMBER Alert program to additional technologies, increasing resources to support abuse investigations, and developing multidisciplinary poli- cies to combat human trafficking in Connecticut. Each child is representative of our state's future and these policies promote a safe environment for all.
