18 Doing Business in Connecticut | 2017 SPONSORED REPORT Connecticut's Talent: One of Our Most Abundant Resources C onnecticut is home to one of the most highly skilled and highly productive workforces in America — at every level of employment and across every sector of the economy. Better still, the state is commit- ted to helping organizations develop their employees — as demonstrated by an array of impressive workforce training initiatives. The statistics tell the story. According to 2015 U.S. Census Bureau data, Connecticut ranks: • #3 in the country for the percentage of employees with advanced degrees • #5 in the country for labor productivity Science and engineering talent is particularly abundant in Connecti- cut. Currently, there are more than a quarter of a million students attend- ing 40 public and private institutions of higher learning in Connecticut. In the 2016 Best Colleges ranking from U.S. News and World Report: • Yale ranked as the third-ranked university in the country • UConn ranked among the top 20 public universities in the United States • United States Coast Guard Academy (in New London) ranked as the #1 regional college in the North Connecticut's next generation of highly skilled workers prepare for rewarding careers in the state's booming advanced manufacturing sector.
