Step Up: Offers up to $12,500 in employ-
er incentives for each unemployed job-
seeker hired. Goal is to put people back
to work, create jobs and help companies
expand. Step Up provides wage subsidies
and training grants for small manufactur-
ers, new apprentices, and companies of
any size hiring an unemployed veteran.

Shared Work Program: Provides em-
ployers with an alternative to layoffs
when faced with a temporary decline in
business. Offers partial unemployment
insurance benefits, allowing companies
to retain skilled employees and return
them to a full work schedule once busi-
