It is located one mile north of I-495 and Route 20 in the Marlborough Industrial Park. Worcester gives tax break to manufacturing space A new research-and-development building of at least 20,000 square feet will rise in the South Worcester Industrial Park, thanks to a 20-year tax break from the city. The building is being developed by businessman Steven Rothschild, who already runs a similar center at 40 Jackson St. in the Ivy Corset Building. The facility at Canterbury and Gardner streets will have 10 suites for various users, from technology companies to breweries. The city's 20-year tax break will save 70 percent off its property taxes, an estimated $986,000. The city has estimated that with a higher proper- ty value, the site will still bring the city an additional $486,000 over that period. Bowditch & Dewey attorney gets federal post Vincent DeVito, a partner at the law firm Bowditch & Dewey, has been appointed by President Donald Trump as senior counselor to the secretary of the interior for energy affairs. DeVito was the head of Trump's cam- paign for Massachusetts last year. He joins the federal government at a time when the Trump Administration has lagged in hiring appointed positions. Century Homecare promotes new CEO Healthcare provider Century Homecare has promoted its co-founder and chief clinical officer to CEO, as the previous CEO is taking on more responsibilities in a sister company. James Njoroge, who was former CEO of the Worcester home healthcare pro- vider, said co-founder, chief clinical officer and his wife Milka Njoroge has transitioned into the CEO role after a yearlong changeover period. James Njoroge will stay on as the company's chief information officer. For the past five years, James Njoroge served as CEO of both Century and Worcester-based Elgon Information Systems, which provides software to home care providers. But business has picked up at Elgon, and because of that, the company requires more attention. Worker dies at Marlborough ice rink A 30-year-old Arizona man fell 50 feet to his death at a Marlborough job- site, tumbling from an elevated beam while working on the expansion of new ice rinks for the New England Sports Center. The man, whose name has not been released, was working for Colorado Springs-based Alpha Steel Erectors, according to the Massachusetts Coalition For Occupational Safety and Health. The New England Sports Center is adding two new ice rinks, scheduled to open in August, to its facility. More than 1 million people visit the center every year.
