Food distributor plans $15M expansion Performance Foodservice, an Augusta food distributor, has received the go- ahead from the city's planning board to construct a $15 million freezer facil- ity to meet growing demand for cold storage in northern New England and to expand its workforce. e Kennebec Journal reported that construction on the expansion is due to begin in September. e project is expected to add 50,000 square feet of freezer space and a 6-acre parking lot that will accommodate 100 tractor-trailers. e company distributes food to schools, correctional facilities, hospitals, senior living communities and restaurants.
