26 HEALTH • Spring 2016 The Heywood Urgent Care Center opened in Gardner on Jan. 15. The new site will serve those who can't see their primary care physician or don't have one. The Heywood Health- care facility will be open seven days a week, at 266 Main St. in Gardner. Harrington HealthCare System will open an urgent care center in Oxford early this summer; it already has a site in Charlton. Harrington Physician Services signed a lease to renovate 5,000 square feet at 78 Sutton Ave., creating 11 exam rooms and X-ray and lab services. The building — across the street from Market Basket, Home Depot and the new Oxford Crossing retail center — is owned by Dorr Aviation Credit Corp. Health New England, with members in Massachusetts and Connecticut, has rebranded itself with the new tagline of "where you matter," complete with a new logo and website. Last fall, Health New England re-launched its member portal, my.healthnewengland.org. It is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Baystate Health. MetroWest Medical Center signed a clinical affiliation agreement with Beth Israel Deaconess Albany Medical Center and at Boston University Medical Center, where he completed his residency. KIMBERLY LENZ was appointed by the Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy to serve on a medication addiction advisory group on treatment and best practices. Dr. Lenz, a clinical pharmacy manager in UMass Medical School's Commonwealth Medicine division, was chosen because of her expertise in treating addiction as well as her creativity and strategic thinking skills. The committee is made up of physicians, pharmacists and healthcare practitioners who operate in a managed healthcare environment. JILL LEBOW has been promoted to senior vice president and chief human resources officer at Worcester healthcare nonprofit Fallon Health. She joined Fallon in 2008 as a human resources business partner, where she consulted on recruiting, retention, organizational effectiveness and professional development. A Worcester resident, Lebow is a member of the Worcester Boys and Girls Club Human Resources Committee. She holds a bachelor's degree in English literature from the University of Connecticut and a law degree from the UConn School of Law. VINCENT MEOLI was hired as regional medical director at AFC Doctors Express, an independent urgent care provider in Worcester. His responsibilities will include developing guidelines for patient treatment, developing teaching programs for staff, coordinating patient care and assisting in recruitment of medical staff. A 2002 graduate of Boston University School of Medicine, Meoli completed his emergency medicine residency program at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York in 2006. JEAN-PIERRE GARNIER was appointed chairman of the board of Alzheon Inc., a Framingham private biopharmaceutical startup focused on developing treatments for Alzheimer's disease. Garnier served as CEO of British pharmaceutical giant GlaxoSmithKline from 2000 to 2008, following the merger of SmithKline Beecham and Glaxo Wellcome. In 2014, GlaxoSmithKline was the world's sixth-largest pharmaceutical company. RICHARD P. BURKE was named president and CEO of Fallon Health of Worcester. He has been interim president since November, when CEO W. Patrick Hughes retired. Before being named interim CEO, Burke was president of the insurer's senior care services and government programs. He joined Fallon in 1998. He is a graduate of Assumption College in Worcester, and has master's degrees from Boston College and Cornell University in Ithaca, N.Y. Fallon was named Worcester Business Journal's Corporate Citizen of the Year for 2016. KATHLEEN "KATE" TOOMEY was hired as community services representative for Central Massachusetts for AdCare Hospital of Worcester. She is a Worcester city councilor, and previously served on the Worcester School Committee. Toomey now serves on District Attorney Joseph D. Early's Opioid Task Force. She is a former art therapist and secondary education instructor.
