The University of New England in Biddeford was included in a list of 99 colleges that award scholarships to all incoming freshmen by MONEY.com, TIME maga- zine's online source for personal fi nance information. e school also earned an appearance on the list for having higher-than-average graduation rates. e Maine Readers' Choice Award Committee announced that author Anthony Doerr's novel, "All the Light We Cannot See," was named the 2015 winner of the Maine Readers' Choice Award. Allen Insurance and Financial in Camden announced that Lindsey Eaton, a personal lines account executive, achieved the designation of Accredited Customer Service Representative from the Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of America and Krissy Campbell, a business insurance specialist, earned a Certifi ed Insurance Counselor designation. Lee Ann Szelog a professional speaker and author based in Whitefi eld was selected as the keynote speaker at the annual Connecticut Town Clerks Association meeting held on Sept. 25. The Scarborough Economic Development Corp. announced the recipients of its Outstanding Scarborough Business awards. Winners included Town & Country Federal Credit Union-Administrative Offi ces, project of the year; Black Point Inn, outstanding legacy business; Pine Tree Seafood & Produce Co., outstanding small business; and Casco Bay Butter Co., outstanding new business. INCON, a developer and manufacturer of intelligent online monitors for the power utility, hydroelec- tric and industrial markets in Saco, won the 2015 Governor's Award for Environmental Excellence. The Maine Small Business Development Centers in Bangor selected Ann McAlhnay as its 2015 State Star recognizing a staff member that has shown a strong commitment to small business success. McAlhany is a certifi ed busi- ness advisor at the Maine SBDC at CEI in Bangor. The Maine Development Foundation honored six Maine organizations and individuals at its annual meeting. Winners were: Tyler Technologies Inc., for education and workforce development; MMG Insurance Co., for attrac- tion, retention and engagement; The Maine IDeA Network of Biomedical Research Excellence, for innovation; The Ban- gor Entertainment Cluster, for regional asset development; Renys, for being a downtown visionary; Meredith Jones, awarded the Kenneth M. Curtis Leadership Award. e redevelopment of an abandoned mill building located at 61 Washington St. in Sanford won a Phoenix Award from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. e award recognized the redevelopment of a former brownfi eld site into a community asset by owner Northland Enterprises.
