Cindy Dufour, manager of the S.W. Collins Co. Design Center in Caribou, earned the designation of a Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist through the National Association of Home Builders. College of the Atlantic in Bar Harbor was ranked as the 82nd Best National Liberal Arts College in the country by the 2016 U.S. News and World Report college rankings. The Rotary Club of Portland presented U.S. Sen. Angus King with the Paul Harris Fellow Award, the orga- nization's highest honor. e American College of Healthcare Architects announced that Carol Gillis, principal at Harriman Architects and Engineers in Portland, earned her board certificate in health care architecture. The University of Maine at Farmington was recognized as a Top Public Regional College in the north, where it garnered the No. 6 ranking by the U.S. News & World Report and was rated 19 th among both public and private colleges in the category. e school was also listed as a Top Regional College in Maine in the magazine's Best Colleges for Veterans list. Drummond Woodsum, a law firm in Portland, announced that seven of its attorneys were selected by their peers as "Lawyer of the Year" for inclusion in the 2016 edition of e Best Lawyers in America. e Employer Support of e Guard and Reserve rec- ognized Goodwill Industries of Northern New England with a Hometown Heroes Salute medal and a certificate. MaineGeneral in Augusta captured a 2015 Path to Excellence award at the annual National Research Corp. "NRC Picker Patient-Centered Care Symposium" in Washington, D.C. e medical cen- ter was one of four facilities nationwide in the 100- to 300-bed category selected for the award, which was based on inpatient performance and covers the time period of April 2014 to March 2015. Pen Bay Medical Center in Rockport was selected as a Gold Plus level recipient for implementing the latest research-based treatment guidelines for stroke patients through the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association's Get With e Guidelines Stroke quality improvement program. e center also announced that Thomas Crosslin, Dana Goldsmith, Richard Kahn, Elizabeth Lawrence, Jennifer McKenna, Timothy O'Brien, William Stephenson, Liesbeth Tryzelaar, Julie White and Aoife Redmond-Durow were recognized by Tuft University School of Medicine for teaching excellence in the 2014-15 Tufts University School of Medicine - Maine Track MD Program. e National Association of Professional Insurance Agents named MMG Insurance in Presque Isle as a recipient of its 2015 National Company Award of Excellence. e award honors a company for its commitment to the industry and to furthering the interests of professional insurance agents by creat- ing a better business environment. e Maine Historical Society honored the Mills family with its Maine History Maker Award recognizing contributions to Maine education, civil service, com- munity engagement and development, law, govern- ment and public health. Dora Mills is vice president for clinical affairs at the University of New England; Janet Mills is Maine's Attorney General; Paul Mills is an attorney and principal at the Farmington law firm Mills & Mills; and Peter Mills is the executive director of the Maine Turnpike Authority and a former state representative.
