Moller – Maersk is opening a new $100-million fulfillment hub in Hopedale, a project expected to create about 1,000 jobs. Located in a building owned by Bos- ton-based developer GFI Partners, the 617,000-square-foot e-commerce center at 75 Plain St. is expected to process up to 330,000 units per day at peak capaci- ty, Maersk announced July 15. Maersk expects the fulfillment center to come online in August, adding to the firm's contract logistics network across North America. e site will serve an undisclosed large-scale e-commerce client of Maresk's. GFI Partners bought the site formerly utilized by Rosenfeld Concrete Corp. of Hopedale for $15 million in 2023. Construction on the site started that year and was completed in 2024, ac- cording to real estate data firm CoStar. e building features 88 docks, four drive-in bays, and parking for over 206 trailers and over 300 employees, with room for further expansion. e 146-acre site sits five minutes away from I-495 and less than 20 minutes from the Massachusetts Turnpike. GFI built the site prior to finalizing a tenant for it. Brian Pinch of the Boston-office of Chicago-based Cushman & Wakefield served as broker for this transaction. Logistics sites located central- ly between Boston, Worcester, and Providence have seen high demand; a logistics site in Uxbridge sold for $120 million in February 2025. VulcanForms plans 1M-sq.- ft. expansion VulcanForms is seeking to add 1 mil- lion square feet of manufacturing space in Devens, a move it expects will create more than 1,000 jobs. VulcanForms uses advanced 3D printing and machining to make complex metal parts for industries like aerospace, medical, and defense. e company has presented itself as part of an effort to reshore manufacturing and to secure domestic supply chains. e firm was awarded $21.26 million in tax credits from the Massachusetts Economic Assistance Coordinating Council to support the construction of a 1-million-square-foot advanced man- ufacturing facility in Devens, MEACC announced June 24. e expansion is part of an effort to establish a multi-facility VulcanForms campus in Devens, according to Con- nectCRE.com. VulcanForms did not respond to a WBJ request for comment seeking more information about the Devens expansion. Separately, VulcanForms has hired former U.S. Army officer and Depart- ment of Defense official Matthew Rose to the new role of executive vice presi- dent of mission systems, the company announced July 8. Rose comes to VulcanForms with more than 20 years of leadership. He has held government leadership roles at General Services Administration, De- partment of Homeland Security, and the Department of Defense, including time at the Joint Artificial Intelligence Center. Rose served as an officer from 2006 to 2010 and was involved in Opera- tion Iraqi Freedom, according to his LinkedIn profile, and continues to serve in the U.S. Army Reserve. He came to VulcanForms from Snowflake, a Cali- fornia-based data platform firm, where he led global public sector initiatives.
