Goodwill's motto is, "a hand up, not a handout." It's part of our mission to teach people the skills to achieve personal stability. Personal stability looks different for everyone, which is why Goodwill Northern New England provides supports and services through workforce, healthcare and cleaning that help any person get to stability. When you shop or donate to Goodwill, you support that work. Learn more at GoodwillNNE.org Stores Goodwill stores keep millions of pounds of stuff out of local landfills each year and offer a great reuse buying option to people in our community at affordable prices. The stores also provide stable, flexible jobs for folks for whom it might be their first job or their fifteenth. Jobs and training Our programs help more than 10,000 Mainers every year get the job training and careers they need to support themselves and their families. Goodwill's Workforce Services "upskills" Maine workers and helps them get jobs at local businesses. Goodwill created a robust team approach to workforce development. Our Workforce Services teams have specialized members who focus on each part of a person's life, working together to provide a more holistic approach to support. Our Life Navigators help break down any barriers to a person's success, including things like unsafe housing, lack of transportation, unreliable childcare, food insecurity and more. We all know life can get in the way of work – that's where our Life Navigators offer support to ensure nothing stands in the way of someone's path to personal stability. Goodwill also offers customized workforce programs to young people, people with disabilities, people recently laid off from a job, manages AmeriCorps programs, and more. Disability Services We believe in offering adults with disabilities the opportunity to live and work as independently as possible in their communities. Goodwill operates: • NeuroRehab clinics where we help people get back to life after an acquired brain injury • LifeWorks, where we provide skills training in independent living, work readiness, relationship building, self-advocacy and health • Staffed group homes for adults with disabilities in Maine
