A spokeswoman for Connecti- Care said no leadership or staffing changes are expected as a result of the sale. ConnectiCare employs approximately 420 people at its corporate headquarters at 175 Scott Swamp Road in Farmington. Farmington-based WellSpark Health, a provider of corporate wellness programs, is not included in the sale. St. Francis, Mount Sinai hospitals formally welcome new president Valerie L. Powell-Stafford has been formally welcomed as the new president of St. Francis Hospital and Mount Sinai Rehabilitation Hospital in Hartford. The hospitals, part of Trinity Health Of New England, hosted a blessing and commissioning ceremony in late July to welcome Powell-Stafford. She was named president in May, and has more than 25 years of experience, having most recently served as president and CEO of HCA Northside Hospital in St. Petersburg, Florida. She replaces former president, Thomas Burke. TD Bank names new CT commercial market president TD Bank announced it has appointed Steve Moroney as its new commercial market president for Connecticut and Rhode Island. Moroney, who is based in New Haven, replaces well-known banker Michael LaBella, who recently retired. As commercial market president, Moroney will lead TD's commercial relationship teams and oversee the bank's local commercial and small business lending and deposit portfolios. CONTRIBUTED PHOTO CONTRIBUTED PHOTO Avelo Airlines expanding to Bradley, adding 7 new nonstop routes Avelo Airlines is establishing a regional base at Bradley International Airport, adding seven new nonstop routes from Connecticut to locations including Mexico and Jamaica. It's the largest route expansion in the airline's history, said Avelo CEO Andrew Levy. Avelo already has a regional base of operations at Tweed-New Haven Airport, which is the company's largest and employs more than 250 people. Avelo will begin flights out of Bradley in November, Levy said, with new nonstop service to: Cancún, Mexico; Montego Bay, Jamaica; Houston, Texas; Charlotte, North Carolina; Wilm- ington, North Carolina; Daytona Beach, Florida; and Orlando/Lakeland, Florida. With the additions, Avelo will serve 33 nonstop routes from Connecticut, the airline said. ConnectiCare to be sold to Molina Healthcare for $350M EmblemHealth announced it has entered into an agreement to sell health insurer ConnectiCare to Cali- fornia-based Molina Healthcare Inc. for $350 million. Founded in 1981, Farming- ton-based ConnectiCare said it serves approximately 140,000 members in Connecticut as of June 30. It offers fully insured individual health insurance plans in the state, serving about 78,817 customers on and off Connecticut's health insurance exchange, Access Health CT, according to the Connecticut Insurance Department. It pulled out of the fully insured small group market in 2023, but still offers large group and fixed funding plans to employers. It also offers Medicare Advantage plans. PHOTO | COSTAR CONTRIBUTED PHOTO Major CT manufacturer to be acquired for $1 billion F armington-based advanced manufacturer Mott Corp. announced that it has agreed to be acquired by publicly traded IDEX Corp. for $1 billion. Mott, founded in 1959, designs and manufacturers highly engi- neered filtration systems used in the aerospace, clean energy and electric vehicles industries. It has more than 500 employees and is expected to generate about $200 million in revenue this year. IDEX, based in Northbrook, Illinois, designs and builds precision components used in microchips and other products. Mott will become part of IDEX's Health and Science Technologies segment. The deal will be funded through cash, borrowings from IDEX's current credit facility and potential debt issuance, the companies said. It's expected to close by the end of this year's third quarter. Mott will continue to operate under its own brand, under the leader- ship of President and CEO Boris Levin. Mott said it remains committed to previously announced invest- ments in Connecticut, including plans to build a new 65,000-square- foot facility near its Farmington headquarters to double production capacity for its custom-designed engineering business.
