The Maine Department of Health and Human Services in Augusta hired Puthiery Va as director of the Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention, effective Aug. 28. Va is currently director of the Division of Public Health in Chinle, Ariz., serving the population of the Indian Health Service Navajo Area Chinle Service Unit. Rinck Advertising in Lewiston hired Karli Wedge as social media manager. The Maine Mutual Group in Presque Isle elected Donald Perkins and Jon Prescott to three-year terms on its board of directors. The National Association of Secretaries of State selected Maine Secretary of State Shenna Bellows as a volunteer represen- tative on the Election Infrastructure Subsector Government Coordinating Council for the 2023-2024 term. Verrill, a law firm in Portland, said that Jonathan Dunitz was one of five attorneys in the state appointed as a member of the State of Maine Supreme Judicial Court's Access to Justice Tax Credit Committee. He will serve until December 31, 2027. [ A C H I E V E M E N T S ] Trekkers, a youth mentoring organi- zation in Rockland, said it is now certified by the National Disability Mentoring Coalition, in partnership with MENTOR, to run mentoring programs, activities and events that are inclusive to youth, volunteers and staff with disabilities. Katahdin Bankshares Corp., the par- ent company of Katahdin Trust Co. in Houlton, said it was named one of American Banker's "Top 200 Community Banks in the U.S." based on financial performance for the fourth consecutive year. The Maine Film Center in Waterville named "We Are the Warriors" as its Tourmaline Prize for best feature film, "See You In April" its Tourmaline Prize for best short film and "What I Want You to Know" as its Audience Favorite Award winner at the 26th annual Maine International Film Festival. UScellular announced that, for the fourth year in a row, it received a top score of 100 on the Disability Equality Index and has been recog- nized as a "Best Place to Work for Disability Inclusion." RE/MAX Shoreline in Portland said that for the second quarter agents Harper Lee Collins, Erin Finley, Dawn Marston, Tom Ranello, Nick Guerrette and Scott Sheppard were included amongst the "Top-10 RE/MAX Individual Agents for 2023 YTD."
