16 HARTFORDBUSINESS.COM | August 15, 2022 40 UNDER FORTY | 2022 Lynn Olson-Douglas is currently a vice president at the Travelers Companies Inc. In this role, she is responsible for providing HR support to the personal insurance claim organization. Prior to joining Travelers, Olson-Douglas was the director of human resources for the Connecticut Convention Center. She also was the human resources manager for the Marriott Hartford Downtown, where she was a member of the pre- opening team responsible for opening the property in 2005. What's been your biggest professional accomplishment so far in your career? My biggest accomplishment has been succeeding as a woman in the business world. However, my proudest moments have come through positively impacting the many people I help support. Relationships are important to me and those around me value my honest and courageous spirit. How are you involved in the community? My husband and I are very involved with our son's flag football league, CT Flag. I am a prior board member of the Prudence Crandall Center, an organization dedi- cated to providing services for victims of domestic violence. I continue to be a supporter and help in any way I can. What do you like to do outside of work? I love to spend time with my family and travel — especially to Jamaica, my favorite island. I'm also a voracious reader. Finishing one book and picking out the next one is a feeling I love! Why do you deserve to be a 40 Under Forty? • Have passion for helping others tap into networking opportunities and secure meaningful employment. • Progressed quickly in human resources career and hired at age 21, before receiving degree. • Mentor many young, diverse profes- sionals and recent college graduates. • Served as board member for the Prudence Crandall Center and as cor- porator for the Hartford Public Library. Erica Millard is a preconstruction manager at KBE Building Corporation, admired for helping clients stay on budget and on schedule. Millard joined the construction industry immediately after graduating from the University of Virginia in 2007. She is driven, creative, and a solutions-fo- cused leader with 15-plus years of verified expertise across project budgets ranging $1 million to $150 million. What's been your biggest professional accomplishment so far in your career? Early in my career, I set a personal goal to build a strong relationship with a new client and bring a new project/pursuit to KBE – and ensure that project is a success for all. In 2020, I achieved that goal, far sooner than anticipated and I continue to bring back repeat clients by delivering on my promises. How are you involved in the community? I would love to see more females in the industry and as such, I'm a member of Professional Women in Construction and regularly attend events. I served on the mentorship committee and participated as a mentor for college students looking to pursue a career in the industry. What do you like to do outside of work? I tackle my second career as a mother of two young children, ages seven and six. Outside of spending time with my family, I love to spend time outdoors, play tennis and I'm an avid runner. Why do you deserve to be a 40 Under Forty? • Youngest member – and only woman – of the company's Leadership Graduate Program designed to build the company's future leaders. • Builds lasting client relationships that result in new and repeat business for the company, including the recent award of a $80 million project. • Improved work processes through new company standards, resulting in more efficient project delivery. • Manages the preconstruction planning for highly-complex construction projects, developing an approach that ensures projects are completed on time and on budget. "Over the years, I've been witness to Erica's strong work ethic. She is unlike anything I've ever seen before. Her interac on with clients, trade partners, and co-workers is excep onal – respec ul, engaging, all the while making sure the project gets done. Erica goes above and beyond in everything she does."
