K ris Doody was born at Cary Memorial Hospital and is the youngest of eight children. She began work at Cary as a Volunteer Candy Striper. At age 18 she became a Certified Nurse's Aide. She earned her Associate of Science Degree in Nursing at the University of Maine at Presque Isle, her Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing at Regents College in New York, and her Masters of Science in Business at Husson University. She worked as a staff nurse in various departments at Cary and was later appointed Surgical Services Coordinator and served in that position for ten years. She was then named Chief Operating Officer in 1994 and then served two terms as Interim CEO in 1996 and 1998. She was appointed Chief Executive Officer in 1999. During Kris' tenure as CEO, Cary Medical Center has received numerous awards for clinical quality, patient safety and satisfaction. Organizations, such as QHR, Leapfrog, Avatar, Healthgrades, iVantage, Women's Choice, Consumer Report and The Joint Commission have recognized Cary Medical Center.
