As it's grown, the institution has re- tained its sense of community and desire to help others meet their financial goals along the way. As an employer, this culture sets the institution apart. The working envi- ronment is flexible, family-friendly and even fun! Just as c u s t o m e r s a r e not treated as a number, neither are employees. Employees receive growth opportunities in a continuous learning environment. In fact, most posi- tions that are not entry-level are hired from within the company. The bank's Professional Development Program al- lows employees to take classes during bank time and rewards employees for completing different certificate levels with pay increases, bonuses and advancement opportunities through various levels of the program. When asked, employees say the management, at all levels, is caring and understanding. "We are treated as individuals and not just a number," said one employee. "Everyone takes the time to really get to know each other and be there for one another when needed." The well- ness program al- lows employees to take advantage of fitness and nutri- tion challenges, health risk as- sessments, well- ness coaching and wellness education. Employees receive random surprises with small gifts such as cupcakes plus a visit from HR and an executive officer. It's a great chance for employees to see these officers out and about in the branches and make con- nections with them. Bank-wide holidays and events promote a fun atmosphere. That includes annual Chilly Chili Day, Ugly Sweater Day, Halloween costume competitions, branch anniversary events, customer appreciation days and Kentucky Derby. Employees receive gift certificates to shop at the company store and to use as a currency in the institution. Annual Employee Appreciation evenings recog- nize employees for achievements such as promotions, completion of education programs and anniversaries. Throughout the year, employees receive appreciations on their anniversaries, birthdays and life events. Employees receive a paid holiday each year for their birthday. And if their birthday happens to fall on the weekend, they get to pick the Friday before or Monday after and make it a long weekend. New employees receive plants or flowers as a welcome present!
