The company in April secured $20 million in venture debt financ - ing to develop gene and cell ther- apies at the site and late last year was given Orphan Drug Designation from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for a deadly blood cancer treatment. In the same month, Mustang Bio saw its stock price grow by more than 200% when it announced a licensing agreement with St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Rhode Island for treat - ment for bubble boy disease in infants. After an ongoing clinical trials, the company hopes to develop the lentiviral gene therapy for com - mercial use. Patients' cells from all participating trial sites will be processed in the Worcester facility. The company was one of the last to open a facility in the park, which is now at full capacity. Plans are underway for a large biomanu - facturing park in adjacent land at the former Worcester State Hospital site. - Zachary Comeau Mustang rounds out Science Park Mustang Bio's facility in Worcester
