Ilvar Carlson, 58, of Auburn, admit- ted to one count of embezzling from a labor union, according to the U.S. States Attorney's Office for Massachusetts. Between March 2007 and September 2016, Carlson, the former business agent and treasurer for Local B-935 of the IATSE, embezzled the funds belonging to the union by writing checks from the union's bank account, cashing them and using that cash for personal expenses. Carlson could be sentenced to up to five years in prison, three years of super- vised release and a fine of up to $10,000. Worcester Wendy's land sells for $3M A Wendy's property on Southbridge Street in Worcester has sold for more than $3 million. e drive-through fast food restaurant is in the same plaza as a Family Dollar and Commerce Bank. e half-acre site was assessed by the city at $720,400 last year. e $3,050,000 sale closed Feb. 15, according to the Worcester Registry of Deeds. e sale includes the land under the Wendy's, not the restaurant itself. UMass Medical, labor union reach agreement UMass Memorial Health Care has reached an agreement with a labor union to cover 2,600 workers at UMass Memo- rial Medical Center in Worcester. Details of the contract were not released. e union covers administrative, technical and patient care positions, according to its website. In a blog post earlier this month, the union said it has negotiated a raise for members every year. FHCW names successor CEO to Frances Anthes Family Health Center of Worcester has named a 20- year health execu- tive as the successor to longtime CEO Frances Anthes. Louis Brady as- sumed the lead role on April 1, but he had been working there since March 11 to allow for a transition period. New England has most private employer costs Total compensation costs among private industry employers in New En- gland averaged $40.80 per hour worked in December, the highest level among the nine geographic divisions measured by federal labor officials. Wages and salaries accounted for 68.4 percent of total compensation costs, while benefits accounted for 31.6 percent. For the U.S., that breakdown was 70 and 30 percent. Oxford Immunotec lands former GE Healthcare CFO Marlborough medical device manufacturer Oxford Immunotec has grabbed the chief financial officer from GE Healthcare in U.S. and Canada to replace its retiring financial chief.
