Passion to do a great job for our employees and for our clients. Here at USI, we are focused on creating a work environment that fosters passion for what we do — insurance services. And we believe that if we take good care of each other, in turn, we take good care of our customers — from property and casualty, employee bene- fit, personal risk to retirement needs. That service with a smile resonates strongly with our 160 employees here in Connecticut and we utilize our national resources to the fullest. We believe we are strong enough to both out-local the national compa- nies as well as out-national the local ones. It's a wonderful balance. USI is a knowledge-based organization that draws upon more than 100 years of consulting and brokerage experience through our acquired agencies as we continue to grow and evolve. Our mission is to make sure that we can resolve our clients' issues and have a positive financial impact. And it is important to not only mention community, but to focus on it. Locally, we have worked with the Con- necticut Veterans Hospital, the Make-A-Wish Foundation, and we adopt a United Way family for the holidays. In additional to local volunteerism, USI works with a variety of charities and foundations that support the passions of our customers. There's that word passion again. This is what motivates our team. It's the ability to know that we've had a positive impact after the fact but also that special intuition even before something bad happens. Moving for- ward, our challenge is to attract and retain new talent in the insurance brokerage industry with this kind of keen skill set. We need to let young people know that the insurance business is a people business and there are so many exciting career paths that can branch off of it. So we reach out to newcomers and seasoned industry experts who not only understand the risks, pricing, and needs of their clients but who are passionate individuals who want to better position their clients for the future.
