Lexvest Chapel, LLC, an affiliate of Shirley-based Lexvest Group, is the recipient of the funds. Boston Scientific laying off 85 in Burlington Boston Scientific has alerted the state it plans to lay off 85 workers at a site in Burlington later this year. Boston Sci- entific said the job cuts will be effective from late September through December. SHINE appoints new executive director from YOU Worcester mental health nonprofit e SHINE Initiative has picked Fred Kailin as its new executive director. Kaelin will take over in mid-September and will replace Paul Richard, who is retiring at the end of the year. Kaelin was chief development officer at the Worces- ter behavioral health agency YOU, Inc. Fallon Health hits new membership high Fallon Health of Worcester hit a new high of more than 277,000 members in the second quarter, a period in which it also reported a $2.8 million net profit. e health insurer saw a spike in revenue of 27 percent over the same period last year, with revenue hitting $422 million in the quarter ending June 30. Fallon's member- ship rose by more than 50,000, or more than 20 per- cent, from the same period last year. UMass: Marijuana could help stomach problems Researchers at UMass Medical School may have found a link between mar- ijuana use and relief of inflammatory bowel disease. New research released by the medical school has shown endo- cannabinoids help control and prevent intestinal inflammation in mice. e findings are the first to explain why some marijuana users have report- ed beneficial effects from cannabis use on conditions like ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease.
