Maine Medical Center in Portland promoted Jo Linder to assistant dean for students, Tufts University School of Medicine, Maine Track Program . Linder, who is an associate professor in both the department of emergency medicine and the department of community medicine and public health at Tufts, has served as the director of student aff airs for the hospital for the past eight years. [ A P P O I N T M E N T S ] Tedford Housing, a nonprofi t agency in Brunswick whose mission is to fi nd lasting solutions to the challenges of homelessness, elected Joyce McPhetres, chief human resources offi cer at Community Health Options, as president of its board; Roger Brodeur, social service supervisor quality assurance in the Offi ce of Child & Family Services, vice president; Nonny Soifer, an attorney with a private practice in Brunswick, secretary; and Sarah Piper, commercial loan offi cer at Bath Savings Institution, treasurer. In addition, the organization added Cynthia Dechenes, Toni Kemmerle, David Sinclair and Scott Upham to its board. Dechenes is a family physician at Lincolnhealth Family Care Center; Kemmerle is princi- pal attorney for the Maine Department of Transportation; Sinclair is an attorney; and Upham is a managing partner for Cribstone Capital Management LLC. e nonprofi t also said Giff Jamison, direc- tor of operations, was appointed to the Sagadahoc County Board of Health. The Maine Real Estate & Development Association elected Dan Brennan and Shawn McKenna to its board of directors. Brennan is director of MaineHousing while McKenna is vice president, commercial banking at Bangor Savings Bank. e association also named Michael Lane, a partner at Preti Flaherty, as its Public Policy Committee chair. Maine Community Bancorp, the mutual holding company that owns Mechanics Savings Bank and Biddeford Savings Bank, added Amy Landry and Elaine Runyon to the board of directors for Mechanics Savings Bank. Both will also serve on the Maine Community Bancorp board of directors. Landry is CEO of Maine Optometry PA while Runyon is a CPA and serves as controller at Portland Country Club. [ A C H I E V E M E N T S ] Leah Lippmann, an architect and senior interior designer at Knickerbocker Group, a construction company in Boothbay, earned recognition as a Maine Licensed Architect. Kennebec Savings Bank said it took the top spot on the Forbes list of "Best- In-State Banks and Credit Unions" and was named "Maine's Best Bank." Forbes partnered with Statista, which compiled the list surveying more than 25,000 customers in the U.S. and receiving feedback on their current and former banking relationships. Brenda Houdlette was named the " e Margit Cook Award" winner, Oasis Free Clinics captured " e Tedford Home Award" and Doug Morrell won the " e Scooty Brownell Award." In addi- tion, Danielle Triffi tt, business manager, and Pauline Hanson, homeless prevention case manager, were recognized for fi ve years of employment and Donna Verhoeven, Tedford's Merrymeeting Project for homeless youth case manager, was rec- ognized for 10 years with the agency. Penquis Lynx Mobility Services was named the "2018 Rural Community Transportation System of the Year" by the Community Transportation Association of America. For the sixth straight year, the Animal Welfare Society in Kennebunk earned a 4-star ranking from Charity Navigator, the leading independent evaluator of nonprofi ts. e ranking, the highest possible, is based on fi scal responsibility, transparency and accountability. St. Joseph Healthcare in Bangor announced Renee Bouchard, volunteer services coordinator, was recognized by Maine's Directors of Healthcare Volunteer Services with its "Director of Volunteer Excellence Award" at the Maine Hospital Association's 2018 Summer Forum.
