I was elected foundation board president assuming leadership of semiannual board meet- ings and the executive committee. I also joined the board of directors of CEI Ventures Inc., a socially responsible venture capital fund, as well as the MxG Advisory Board, a 19+ organizational partner network seeking to accelerate the growth of Maine companies, communities, and talent). What's ahead: I have co-founded the Northern New England Women Investors Network (NNE WIN), a collaboration among Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont to activate more fi nancially accredited women as angel investors in our tri-state area. By off ering training and net- working, this initiative seeks to empower their confi dence and comfort in angel investing. Our goal is increased knowledgeable funding and mentoring of promising Maine and New England startup ventures, particularly female-focused ideas or those with female founders. At least four women have chosen to join Maine Angels, and some of us may decide to form an all women investor fund. I also intend to remain active in Maine's innovation ecosystem. Advice: If starting your own business, fi nd something about which you get really jazzed, enjoy or feel passionate. What's ahead: Further collaps- ing of the health care market with larger hospital-affi liated practice pat- terns. is has not been shown to save patients money and in fact the latest data indicates that ACOs (accountable care organizations) have not saved money overall compared to fee-for-service care. Advice: Don't take for granted the gains that women have made, there is much work to be done.
