A Fryeburg inn sells for $1.35M Fryeburg's Old Saco Inn sold for $1.35 million in what was considered by the broker to be a speedy sale, after six months on the market. "It can take two to three years to sell a lodging property," said Dana Moos, a broker at the B&B Team. "So we were quite surprised when it didn't take but a few months. And having several interested parties within four months is unheard of. It's just not common to have multiple offers on inns." Located at 125 Old Saco Lane in Fryeburg, the inn was purchased by Jon Hendrickson and Bruce Moffit. e sellers were Sandi and Pete MacLachlan. Moos and Rick Wolf of e B&B Team represented the sellers and Moos represented the buyers. Interest in the inn was boosted by having a restaurant and and bar and being on 65 acres on the bank of the Old Saco River with views of the White Mountains. e inn has its own driving range, plus complimentary gear like canoes and kayaks for guests. With nine rooms and a small restaurant, it was small enough for novice innkeepers and also has potential for expansion. e owners hope to build a post-and- beam barn to host weddings. Legal settlement will help address shortage of plumbers Four Maine high schools that were selected by the Office of the Attorney General to start plumb- ing training programs with funds received from a consumer protec- tion settlement are beginning to make a dent in the shortage of plumbers in Maine. In the 2017- 18 academic year alone, nearly 100 students at the four high schools — Mount Blue High School in Farmington, Lewiston Regional Technical Center, Oxford Hills Technical School, and Biddeford Regional Center of Technology — received training in the plumbing trade, according to a news release. Funding for the high schools' plumbing programs comes from a $500,000 settlement that Attorney General Janet Mills reached with Bath Fitter of Portland for engag- ing in unlicensed plumbing activi- ties. Each of the four high school selected by Mills received approxi- mately $120,000 for two years to start the programs.
