The Challenge
Manufacturers continue to have a hard
time finding qualified workers, which can
put a damper on growth and productivity
at companies throughout Maine.
While the manufacturing sector represents a robust
50,600 jobs in Maine, the industry has a PR problem,
especially with younger workers. The message,
"GREAT JOBS AT GREAT WAGES, and a career
that offers benefits and advancement" is just not
getting through to the next generation of workers.
