Murray Real Estate — Compiled by Zachary Comeau, WBJ staff writer Brothers sentenced for $400K Commerce fraud Two Chicago brothers have been sentenced to a combined 27 years in prison for defrauding banks out of $4 million, including $400,000 from Commerce Bank in Worcester. Ryan Miller, 32, and Dusten James Miller, 31, were sentenced in federal court in Worcester to 15 and 12 years, . According to the U.S. Department of Justice, the brothers, along with co-conspirators, applied for fraudulent bank loans for an airplane using stolen identities and documents, including tax returns, licenses, bank statements and social security cards. Boston Scientific inks $605M IRS tax settlement Marlborough medical device giant Boston Scientific has finalized a $605-million settlement with the U.S. Internal Revenue Service related to its 2006 acquisition of a Indianapolis company for $27 billion. e payment will resolve disputes related to the transfer pricing for six of Guidant Corp.'s tax years before the acquisition, and two tax years related to the company's sale of a Guidant stent business to Illinois-based Abbott Laboratories for $6.4 billion. Florida firm buy bankrupt Bertucci's for $20M Northborough pizza chain Bertucci's has been bought at bankruptcy auction for a deal worth up to $20 million. e buyer, Bertucci's Holdings, LLC, is owned by Earl Enterprises, the Orlando, Fla. owners of Planet Hollywood, Buca di Beppo and Earl of Sandwich. e purchase price is $13 million in new second lien notes, $3.05 million in cash and up to $4 million in credit in the aggregate amount outstanding in debtor-in-possession financing. e transaction gives Earl more loca- tions in New England. Bertucci's, which filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in April citing debts of $119 million, operates 59 locations, including in Marlborough and Holliston. American adds Philly flight from Worcester American Airlines is now planning to offer two flights from Worcester Re- gional Airport to Philadelphia beginning in October aer previously announcing just one daily flight. e airline said it is increasing the frequency and changing the schedule. e new schedule gives the market even more connecting oppor- tunities, as well as the best schedule for customers flying from Worcester. Kevin Perry sentenced to 14 years in prison Kevin Perry, the former owner of e Usual and Blackstone Tap, in May was sentenced to 14 years in federal prison for using those eateries to launder pro- ceeds of his illegal opioid sales. Perry and the government had previously agreed to a sentence of 14 to 16 years, but U.S. District Judge for Massachusetts Timothy Hillman chose the shorter end of the sentence. Bertucci's in Framingham has remained open while its parent company went through bankruptcy proceedings. W
