McCarthy, professor of phar- macy practice and dean emeritus in the School of Pharmacy at the University of Connecticut, has been named the next dean of the University of New England College of Pharmacy. He will start Aug. 1. McCarthy takes over from interim dean Karen Houseknecht and longtime leader Gayle Brazeau, who was named dean in 2010, a year after the college wel- comed its fi rst class. Brazeau, who was a 2013 Mainebiz Next honoree, was named dean of the Marshall University School of Pharmacy, eff ective May 12.
