The 120,000-square-foot hotel, located at 125 Front St., is the latest in a series of new developments in the Front Street and downtown area. In February, leasing began for the $90-million, 365-unit 145 Front at City Square apartment building. Also slated for the street level in the same building is 110 Grill, a rapidly expanding chain restaurant with 13 other locations in New England. The 240-seat restaurant opened in May. The new hotel, which will be managed by New Hampshire hotelier Colwen Hotels, includes 7,000 square feet of meeting space for 750 attendees a 24-hour fitness center and free Wi-Fi. Colwen operates two other Worcester hotels, the Hampton Inn & Suites and Courtyard, adjacent buildings next to Gateway Park. The AC Hotel, on part of the former Galleria mall site, is the second hotel in that area of the city to open in less than a year. Homewood Suites opened at Washington Square across from Union Station last June. In November, the hotel announced it would hire 25-year hospitality veteran Andrew Dunn as general manager.
