The largest on this list by far each year is Saint Vincent Hospital. Its intracity rival, UMass Memorial Medical Center, doesn't make the list because as a nonprofit, it doesn't pay city taxes. Skymark Tower, at 24 stories, is tied with the Worcester Plaza tower across from City Hall as the tallest in the city. The Worcester Crossing plaza lost one of its two main tenants this year. Sam's Club closed in January, leaving a 133,000-square-foot vacancy. The other anchor, Walmart, holds control of the site, meaning don't expect a Target or Market Basket any time soon. Homewood Suites opened across Washington Square from Union Station in mid-2017, helping to bridge the gap between downtown and the Shrewsbury Street restaurant corridor.
