In 1997 though, she left the franchise to start her own company, Atlas Travel. The awards have continued, including being named Ernst & Young's Entrepreneur of the Year in New England, a Top Business Builder in North America by Fast Company magazine, and one of the 100 Most Powerful Women in Travel by Travel Agent magazine. Unic Pro's Lilian Radke was named the Massachusetts Woman Small Business Owner of the year by the U.S. Small Business Administration. The company earned the recognition for its success and rapid growth in sales and job creation, the SBA said. The company is growing at a rate of about 45 percent in annual sales and reports low employee turnover and high client retention rates, according to the SBA. Red Cab is the oldest company on this list – as well as one of the oldest minority-owned businesses, and one of only three businesses to appear on both WBJ lists. Red Cab says it has been in business since 1929 and has been family owned and operated since 1979. Seasonal Food Brands might not sound as familiar as some of its eateries do. The company includes Epicurean Feast Cafés, food service providers in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic; Sebastians Cafés, which has locations in Boston and Cambridge; and 5 & Diner, a 50's-themed diner chain with locations in Arizona and Florida.
