Meagher, smeagher@nebusinessmedia.com The Groton Inn A historic hotel in Groton, once the site of the oldest hotel in the United States, has been rebuilt seven years after the his - toric structure was destroyed by a fire. The Groton Inn, a 55,000-square-foot, 60-room hotel opened in May. The original structure, parts of which were built in the 1600s, was destroyed by a large fire in 2011, but a Concord developer and Maine hotel group pur - chased the property for $2.1 million and completed a total rebuild of the structure. The hotel will be managed by the Portland, Maine-based Migis Hotel Group. Concord-based Omni Properties acted as devel - oper for the project. Planned to open at the inn this summer is Forge & Vine, a 156-seat freestanding restaurant on nearly nine acres shared with the inn. According to Massachusetts land records, the groups, under the entity 128 Main Street LLC, were granted two mortgages for the property in 2015 and 2017 worth nearly $13.5 million. Plans for the inn changed in 2016, when the developers pro - posed, and were approved, to increase the number of rooms from 43 to 60 and include the hotel.
