TechSandBox, a Hopkinton incubator, closed in the summer of 2017 after a four-year run. The incubator found two issues: Large MetroWest companies wanted to be involved with larger Boston incubators, not necessarily small - er ones closer to home. And far- ther from Boston, each town or smaller region has wanted to have an incubator of its own. Worcester has been a hub of incubators for Central Massachusetts. This year, the Action! Worcester – the company running the Worcester Idea Lab – decided to leave its home at 20 Franklin St. in downtown to pair with the Worcester CleanTech Incubator a few blocks away at the Printers Building, where the makerspace Technocopia is also based. Gateway Co-Work Center opened in November 2017 at the former Running Start Coworking at 95 Prescott St., part of the Gateway Park development affili - ated with Worcester Polytechnic Institute, which also includes the Massachusetts Biomedical Initiatives the largest incubator in Central Massachusetts, with more than 30 companies and more than 60 graduates.
