Whittlesey volunteers for Junior Achievement's JA in a Day Team members from Hartford accounting firm Whittlesey volunteered for Junior Achievement's JA in a Day. The volunteers spent the day working with students ranging from kindergarten to seventh grade at DiLoreto Elementary and Middle School in New Britain, conducting lessons on topics including individual choices, business, entrepreneurship and financial literacy. Women's Business Development Council celebrates 'Women-Owned Business Day' The Women's Business Development Council recently hosted its fifth annual "Women-Owned Business Day" at the state Capitol sponsored by The Hartford. The event drew nearly 200 Connecticut women business owners who had the opportunity to network with national and state leaders. Of Note Webster Bank has announced that Aaron Bohigian, vice president and associate relationship manager of business banking, has been named Financial Services Champion for 2018 in Connecticut by the Small Business Administration. The Financial Services Champion award is given each year to an individual who advances small business interests through either financial services or accounting. Community Renewal Team hosts networking event The Community Renewal Team hosted a networking event at the Gershon Fox Ballroom in Hartford to help raise money for its Women's Empowerment Center. The event was emceed by Renee DiNino from The River 105.9 FM, and speakers included: Lena Rodriguez, president and CEO of CRT; Gabrielle Bagot, a graduate student at the University of St. Joseph; and a keynote by Cheryl McDonald, co-owner of Bear's Restaurant Group in Hartford.
