The planned $2-million in invest- ments include improvements to its pro- duction capabilities and equipment to help streamline employee training. The equipment will more closely align to machines used in technical colleges and trade schools, the company said. More than 30 employees were hired in the last year, but 23 positions remain open. Fourth charged with Chameleon drug money Christopher Slavinskas, listed as a manager at the Hangover Pub in Worcester, has been charged with lying to investigators about concealing $330,000 in drug money related to The Chameleon on Shrewsbury Street. The money came from the drug sales of Kevin Perry, the former owner of The Usual and Blackstone Tap. Perry pleaded guilty in October to drug and money laundering charges. Perry's wife, Stacey Gala and business partner Joseph Herman were indicted in February for using $200,000 of the money to open The Chameleon in The Usual's location. Hologic's system achieves premarket approval A high-resolution mammography system from Marlborough medical device maker Hologic received premar- ket approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for 3D imaging. The company's Clarity HD three- dimensional system and its Intelligent 2D imaging technology are now avail- able on the 3Dimensions breast tomo- synthesis system using a low-dose x-ray system and a more comfortable mam- mography experience. The 3Dimensions system represents a major breakthrough in breast cancer screening technology with its image clarity regardless of breast size or densi- ty and increased comfort. The system is designed to provide a quick, high-resolution three-dimen- sional image able to reveal subtle lesions and fine calcifications to help detect the earliest cancers.
