Saint Vincent Hospital has a new system to aid
surgeons in minimally-invasive procedures.
Saint Vincent Hospital in March
unveiled its new da Vinci Xi Surgical
System, advancing its minimally-
invasive surgery program. According
to the Worcester hospital, the system
represents the latest in surgical and
robotic technology, and can be used
in a variety of minimally-invasive
procedures in the areas of gynecology;
urology; oncology; cardiology; liver
and galbladder; and general surgery.
The surgeon is in total control of the
da Vinci Xi system, which translates
the doctor's hand movements into
smaller, more precise movements
using tiny instruments inside a
patient's body. It provides surgeons a
maginfied view using a 3D-HD vision
system. Saint Vincent said it is the
only Central Massachusetts hospital to
offer the system.
