(CERC), which provides economic development services. Carbone is manager of state government and community relations at Avangrid Inc.; Diotalevi is senior director of sales and external relations at Avangrid; Pagragan is director of business development at Connecticut Municipal Electric Energy Cooperative; and Sheehan is community relations and economic development specialist at Eversource. Bart Kollen, deputy commissioner at the Department of Economic and Community Development, is serving as CERC's acting board chair. Additionally, executive board members who were re-elected are Edward "Ted" Norris of the Regional Water Authority, treasurer; and Bill Vallee of the Connecticut Office of Consumer Counsel, secretary. Susan Fearn has joined Savings Institute Bank & Trust as vice president, cash management officer responsible for managing and growing the bank's commercial banking cash management business in Connecticut, Rhode Island and Massachusetts. Fearn has more than 30 years of experience in banking, most recently at Community Bank NA as assistant vice president of cash management. Rebecca LaVoie and Sara McKinney have joined the administrative team at Cowen Tax Advisory Group, a West Hartford financial advice and retirement planning company. They will help develop a new, personalized multimedia customer service approach. LaVoie will manage Cowen's client appreciation events, as well as its seminars and social media pages. She joins Cowen with two years of marketing experience from Windsor Marketing Group. McKinney, a recent graduate of Kalamazoo College in Michigan, will maintain the company's electronic records, as well as its print and digital correspondence. Cherie L. B. Trice has joined Bloomfield-based Foodshare as director of giving and major gifts officer. Trice will be responsible for securing revenue to meet fundraising goals from existing donors and major gift prospects, developing and managing a planned giving program and overseeing the giving department. Trice joins Foodshare after more than 20 years at Key Private Bank in Hartford, where she was vice president, senior trust officer, working with high net worth clients in Greater Hartford. Samantha Bellisio, Elizabeth Proctor and Oliver Toal have joined Glastonbury-based marketing agency Cronin. Bellisio was hired as a media planner and buyer on the agency's media and analytics team. She previously worked for Makiaris Media. Proctor joined the agency's brand management team as a brand director. She previously worked at Hill Holiday as vice president- account director. Toal joined the agency's media and analytics team as a media and analytics associate. Michael Zizka has joined Halloran & Sage as an attorney in the firm's Hartford office. Zizka brings experience to the municipal and land use practice groups, having served as town and borough attorney, land use counsel or special counsel in 60 Connecticut municipalities. He combines his legal background with his previous experience as a hydrogeologist and environmental analyst for the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection and as author of two publications for municipal land use and government officials. Cathryn A. Reynolds and Patricia J. Murphy have joined Reid and Riege as attorneys in the firm's Hartford office. Reynolds is a member of the business law practice area. Her practice involves assisting business owners and other stakeholders in the various stages of a business life cycle. She also guides clients through complex transactions, including acquisitions and mergers. Murphy is a member of the firm's healthcare practice area, focusing on corporate, regulatory and transactional matters for the healthcare industry. Susan Fearn Amazon made a surprise delivery of more than $5,000 worth of Mobile Maker Space items and books for every classroom as well as a grant for $2,500 to support STEM programs at Oliver Ellsworth Elementary School in Windsor. Additionally, Amazon will replicate this donation at Windsor's Poquonock Elementary School, bringing the total donation to over $15,000. The Hartford region's leading community hope chest says last year it dispensed a record $34.5 million via a record number of grants to needy individuals and the organizations that serve them. The nonprofit Hartford Foundation for Public Giving, serving 29 Greater Hartford communities, said it ended 2017 with an unaudited $1.04 billion in assets in 1,208 funds. In 2016, the Foundation issued 2,287 grants totaling more than $33.3 million. It said it also received 1,918 individual gifts last year — most in its history — totaling $16.7 million, and opened 55 new funds. "At a time when our state and many of our communities face significant fiscal challenges, the Hartford Foundation was able once again to award a record- breaking 2,385 grants,'' said Foundation President Jay Williams. Since its founding in 1925, the Foundation says it has awarded more than $720 million in grants.
