16 Hartford Business Journal • March 5, 2018 • www.HartfordBusiness.com Movers & Shakers LuAnn Ballesteros has been promoted to vice president, external and government affairs at The Jackson Laboratory (JAX), joining the senior management team of the nonprofit biomedical research institution based in Bar Harbor, Maine. While based in Maine, Ballesteros will shape legislative and policy agendas at federal, state and local levels, including in Connecticut, where JAX has its genomic medicine institute in Farmington. Ballesteros joined JAX in 2005 as a senior development officer. Dr. Ahmad Daher has been named medical director of Hartford HealthCare Cancer Institute's neuro-oncology program. Daher treats patients with primary brain tumors and will oversee patient care before and after surgery. Daher also treats patients with cancers of the nervous system and those with non- brain cancers suffering from neurological conditions. He also will serve a crucial role in the institute's ability to offer clinical trials to brain cancer patients. Daher most recently completed a fellowship in neuro-oncology at the University of Texas, MD Anderson Cancer Center. Dr. Magdalen Mauriello has joined the pulmonary care team at New Britain-based Hospital for Special Care (HSC). Mauriello completed a fellowship in critical care at the Yale University School of Medicine, a pulmonary fellowship at Norwalk Hospital, Yale University School of Medicine, and an internal medicine residency at St. Michael's Medical Center. She is board certified in sleep, critical care, pulmonary and internal medicine. Victor Ciancetta has joined the Hartford office of Consigli Construction Co. Inc. as a project executive. Ciancetta will assist with business development efforts and oversee delivery of concurrent projects from preconstruction through closeout. Ciancetta will focus on the higher education, K-12 and corporate markets. Prior to joining Consigli, Ciancetta worked at Turner Construction for 28 years. Joanne J'Anthony has been promoted assistant vice president at Simsbury Bank. J'Anthony is the bank's loan servicing manager, overseeing the mortgage, consumer and commercial loan-servicing department. She joined Simsbury Bank in 2016 from Webster Bank, where she was vice president of loan operations. Margaret Blundon has been appointed first vice president, business information services and project management office manager for Liberty Bank in its technology department. Blundon has more than 20 years of experience in project management, lean process improvement and data analysis. Most recently she was Chelsea Groton Bank's VP of business intelligence. Dawne Ware, CPA, has joined Marcum LLP as a director in the Hartford office of the national accounting and advisory firm. Prior to joining Marcum, Ware co-founded SPARTA Insurance, an insurance company focused on the unbundled program market, which included a variety of captive program structures. As CFO, she oversaw all financial aspects of the company, which she later sold to a property casualty runoff firm, which then named her president of U.S. operations. Deb Pappas has been named the new vice president, chief marketing and communications officer at Connecticut Children's Medical Center. Pappas has more than 20 years of marketing/communications experience in agency and industry sectors, including health care. Most recently, she was senior director of marketing and national physician relations for Boston Children's Hospital.
