The grant will help support initiatives including the Clean & Safe Ambassador program. The Walmart Foundation recently awarded Chrysalis Center a $25,000 grant in support of its Freshplace program, a fresh food pantry in Hartford. The program serves 350 low-income residents per year. The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation awarded Trinity College $800,000 over three years to support four interrelated initiatives that will advance inclusive excellence in the arts, humanities, and digital scholarship. The Connecticut Food Bank announced a $50,000 grant from the Morgan Stanley Foundation to fund its Kids' BackPack Program, which helps to ensure students who are at risk of hunger continue to receive nutritious food on weekends, when they do not have access to school meal programs. KeyBank Foundation donated $25,000 to Hartford LISC to support its mission of helping community residents transform distressed neighborhoods into healthy and sustainable communities. The Hartford Foundation for Public Giving is awarding a three- year, $297,925 innovation grant to the Hartford Public Library to support its Crossroads to Connectivity Project, which will support efforts to narrow the digital divide in Hartford. A $10,000 grant from Connecticut Community Foundation will support the Connecticut Coalition to End Homelessness in serving homeless and housing unstable youth. Baron has been elevated to partner at intellectual property law firm Cantor Colburn LLP and associate Jason D. Radachy has been promoted to counsel. Both are in the firm's Hartford office. Baron represents clients on patent application preparation, prosecution and patent portfolio development. Prior to joining the firm, Baron was an engineer at Hamilton Sundstrand, a division of United Technologies Corp. Radachy handles patent drafting, prosecution and opinion work for clients and law firms in the U.S., Taiwan, China, India and Japan. Andrew Steiner has been appointed administrator of Vernon Manor Health Care Center. Steiner will oversee day-to- day management of the skilled nursing and rehabilitation community in Vernon. Before joining Vernon Manor, Steiner served as president of Sycamore Health Care Consultants LLC, a consulting firm specializing in senior housing and health care, policy and compliance, reimbursement programming, healthcare technology integration, etc. He also has served as administrator of nursing facilities in Connecticut and Massachusetts, implementing and managing programs for residents with Alzheimer's disease and related dementias, pulmonary rehabilitation and cardiac-care management. Jeffrey Rindfleisch has joined American Eagle Financial Credit Union as vice president of consumer lending and collections. Rindfleisch is responsible for all consumer lending functions, including indirect and direct auto, personal loans and Visa, and support functions of underwriting, processing, closing and funding. He has more than 20 years of experience in the financial services industry, most recently as chief lending officer at Seasons Federal Credit Union in Middletown. Orlando Santos has been hired as vice president of product for Glastonbury-based Payrailz, a digital payments company offering bill payment and money transfer services to banks and credit unions. He has more than 30 years of banking experience and joins Payrailz from Webster Bank's treasury and payment solutions group, where he managed the bank's electronic bill payment and mobile banking services. Walter Pethick has been promoted to general sales manager of Hoffman Ford Lincoln, part of East Hartford-based Hoffman Auto Group. Pethick has worked 18 years for Hoffman, most recently as a sales manager for Hoffman Lexus. Shannon Kula has been named founding director of the Women's Leadership Center at the University of St. Joseph (USJ) in West Hartford. She will oversee all aspects of USJ's commitment to empower women as leaders in their academic pursuits, community life and professional careers. Most recently, Kula was chief of staff to U.S. Sen. Barbara A. Mikulski (D-Maryland) who retired last year as the longest- serving woman in Congress. Kula was also previously a legislative aide to former U.S. Sen. Christopher J. Dodd and worked in his Connecticut and Washington, D.C., offices. Tina Tufano, senior ERISA compliance specialist for the retirement services group at Hooker & Holcombe in West Hartford, was elected president of ASPPA Benefits Council (ABC) New England for the 2018-19 term. As chapter president, Tufano will organize educational and networking events for pension professionals and plan sponsors, keeping members current with industry developments and governmental affairs.
