Contributing Photographers Norm Eggert Norm Eggert says, "New England is an absolutely wonderful place to live. e varied landscape - the seacoast to the mountains and everything in between - provides a photographer with a wealth of subject matter. And I love photographing it all." Norm and his wife Cheryl live on a farm in northern Worcester County, where they raise merino sheep and Cheryl grows herbs, flowers, berries, and vegetables. Much of his photography is centered around the farm and nearby countryside, but whenever he can find the time, he heads out to the coast or the mountains to view the endless possibilities "...and to make, hopefully, a few images worth keeping." He is the owner Norm Eggert Photography, selling stock photos of the New England region and teaches photography at the Worcester Art Museum and Mount Wachusett Community College . HEART OF THE COMMONWEALTH 171 Edd Cote Aer 30 years working as a computer systems manager, Edd decided to pack it in and persue a new career as a photographer. "I'd been shooting as a hobby since my late teens and thought this would be better than driving a desk. Surprisingly, nobody said I was crazy." His favorite subject? "People. I'm thrilled when I can capture a moment in someone's life that and let the viewer see the story. e farmer on the tractor - He'd been haying those fields for close to 50 years, but the price of keeping the old equipment running became prohibitive. at wagon he's hauling is his last load of hay. Done. End of story. End of era." Edd lives in the Blackstone Valley. Trisha Barry Driven by inspiration of the fading landscapes, Americana, and the nostalgia of a day gone by, my work evolves around photographic essays, "portraits of life." Everyone and everything has history and a story, and my passion is preserving that moment in time, that "disappearing presence," through my imagery. My work is about simplicity, sincerity, a time and a place. "Trisha's ability to look beneath the surface creates powerful visual dialogues that find true meaning in the simple things. Her photography is like beautiful poetry capturing the essence of the subject in one frame." – Fred Martins, VP Creative Director Tiziani Whitmyre Andy Davis Andy's career is in aviation but his passion is photography. Growing up on the coast of Rhode Island and having the opportunity to travel to popular locations throughout the world, he took to shooting landscape scenes. e challenge he recognized early on was how to capture common scenes in an uncommon fashion. By taking advantage of natural and available light especially at night, and finding alternate angles different from normal points of view, he enjoys turning an otherwise ordinary scene into something unique. He recently settled in Central Massachusetts, and has embarked on documenting the scenic beauty of the area from perspectives and times of day when these vistas are not normally appreciated. Andy lives in Sutton, MA with his wife Cyndi and daughters Ashley and Allison who also enjoys the view through the lens. Liz West Liz West grew up with a darkroom in her basement, but she never really enjoyed it. e smells, the darkness, and the isolation were unappealing. However, she did get a lot of practice taking and processing black and white images. By the time she retired, however, digital photography was available, and this she embraced. For the first time, she began using color in her pictures. Liz now spends part of every day either taking pictures or processing them. Most of her work shows the natural world and the details of ordinary life, with a special focus on food and food-related subjects. Liz also creates photo composites. ese are more fanciful and illustrate scenes from Liz's imagination. James Wellman James Wellman is a self-taught photographer specializing in landscape and High Dynamic Range (HDR) photography. His inspiration comes from famous photographers such as Ansel Adams and Trey Radcliff to lesser known artists like South Carolina-based photographer Eric Morris. James' work began with seeing what other artists could accomplish with their cameras. James' passion is to make works of art out of the most common town squares of Massachusetts, historical monuments, or famous landmarks, such as Fenway Park in Boston, MA. His work has been published in various mediums, most notably on the cover of Dan Barry's recently published book "Bottom of the 33rd: Hope, Redemption, and Baseball's Longest Game." His other interests include reading, traveling, and spending time with his family. James currently resides in Milford, Massachusetts.
