Netter MD School of Medicine at Quinnipiac University, and our research institutions leave Saint Francis uniquely positioned to advance health care through the development of primary care, new treatments for cancer and multiple sclerosis, and much more. As providers increasingly strive to keep patients healthy, it is clear that much of what inuences health outcomes happens outside of traditional care settings. For this reason, we have a proven track record of interacting and coordinating care with numerous social service agencies to assess and respond to community needs. With them at our side, we are connecting our patients with more than just hospital services, but with programs and assistance that make their whole life healthy – from improved living conditions, to access to healthy foods. We see these partnerships as essential to improving the health of the communities we serve. Much of our work is achieved with the help of philanthropists – businesses, corporations, foundations and individuals – who ardently support Saint Francis in its endeavors through their nancial generosity. Whether it's an investment to renovate our oncology oor, refurbishing accommodations for patient families, or creating a center of excellence for the health needs of the women we serve, this work could not be achieved without the dedication of our benefactors. Throughout the year we will demonstrate how the partnerships and relationships that we cultivate at Saint Francis play a vital role in exceeding the expectations of our patients and families by providing world-class service in a progressive, people-centered, compassionate health care environment. stfranciscare.org Partners in Caring Last year was marked by the national debate about health care reform and 2018 looks to be no different as the conversation continues across the country. At Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center we're also focused on changes in health care. Guided by our Mission to improve the health of the communities we serve, we're determined to make the health of our patients the motivation behind every decision and action we make in providing better care. Throughout 2017 we used this column to focus on our commitment to people-centered care and our "Together for a Reason" branding campaign under the umbrella of our parent, Trinity Health Of New England. Over the next 12 months we'll take you inside the hospital and demonstrate people-centered care in action. At Saint Francis, the reason we are part of a larger regional health ministry is to improve the health of the people we care for, enhance the quality of patient care, and reduce the cost of health care despite scal constraints. We will achieve these goals through our relationships and partnerships with entities outside the hospital to help us further our Mission. Saint Francis counts some of the state's largest corporations, nonprot organizations, universities, colleges and community program resources among our partners in caring. These connections allow us to invest in our facilities and the latest technologies while delivering care with compassion and dignity. As a teaching hospital, Saint Francis is dedicated to training the next generation of health care professionals. Every day our colleagues work alongside medical students, student nurses, medical technicians, Master degree candidates, college and high school students who are focused transforming the health of our patients. John Rodis, M.D. President Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center
