XL Center happy hour aims to whet appetites for hockey The XL Center is introducing a new "hockey happy hour" to drive more fans to games. Spectra Venue Management and Spectra Food Services & Hospitality, which operates the venue's Comcast Coliseum Club Restaurant, said starting Jan. 2 it will provide $2 domestic beers and $5 appetizers to ticketed fans who arrive before the puck drops at all Hartford Wolf Pack and UConn hockey games. The happy hour will begin two hours before all hockey games and end as each game starts. The restaurant is on the 200 suite level, which can be accessed using the Trumbull Street entrance. The Comcast Coliseum Club is the XL Center's largest premium seating area with a private entrance and full-service bar. East Hartford apartments fetch $8M East Hartford's 120-unit Turtle Creek Apartments has sold for $8 million, or $66,000 per unit, brokers say. New York investor Up Realty LLC purchased the property at 8 Turtle Lane, adjacent to Martin Park, from Turtle Creek Realty, according to exclusive broker Chozick Realty in Hartford. Built in 1968, Turtle Creek's units are a mix of two studios, 34 one-bedroom and 84 two- bedroom units. Connecticut communities issued more housing permits in November than a year earlier, but its count was well below the previous month's tally, fresh data shows. The 104 municipalities tracked by the U.S. Census Bureau issued 324 permits for new single- and multifamily dwellings in November vs. 209 issued the same month in 2016, the state Department of Economic and Community Development said. Those same communities granted 507 housing permits in October. Through the first 11 months of 2017, 3,522 permits were issued vs. 3,905 issued the same period in 2016, DECD said. Healthcare Cabinet lays out drug cost strategies The state's Healthcare Cabinet has issued a draft list of legislative and other priorities aimed at tackling rising prescription drug costs, which affect government, consumers and companies alike. The government-industry group, which advises Gov. Dannel P. Malloy and Lt. Gov. Nancy Wyman (who chairs the cabinet) on healthcare reform and system development, said it wants to better understand drug price trends and find ways for the state to reduce its pharmaceutical spending. Among its recommendations is to require pharmacy benefit managers to disclose more information about their price calculations and require the Insurance Department to collect additional information from insurers during the annual rate filing process to glean what effect drug prices have on rising premiums. They also want to mandate that consumers' drug coinsurance and deductible amounts be based on the net price after rebates, instead of the price before rebates.
