LARGEST CONNECTICUT COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES (Ranked by fall 2017 enrollment) Hartford welcomes UConn back downtown UConn school officials, city and state leaders gathered in August at the steps of the Hartford Times building to commemorate the open- ing of the University of Connecti- cut's downtown Hartford campus. The $140 million campus at 38 Prospect St. is considered a game-changer for downtown Hart- ford as it plays home to thousands of students, faculty and staff, adding vibrancy to the center city. New UHart president shapes ambitious goals for future Gregory Woodward took over as president of the University of Hartford July 1 with some ambitious goals in mind. Woodward, who was formerly president of Carthage College in Kenosha, Wis., wants to double UHart's $150 million endowment and boost a 71 percent first- to sec- ond-year student retention rate by 10 percentage points. Trinity's downtown campus debuts Hartford's Trinity College opened its first of two downtown campus sites in Constitution Plaza in De- cember. The private liberal-arts college is occupying 10 Constitution Plaza, formerly home to the defunct Back- 9Network golf-lifestyle television network.
