Winter Ball The Winter Ball, the fundraising gala for UMass Memorial Medical Center and UMass Medical School, raised a record $1.4 million during this year's event on Dec. 1.This year's event focused on the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit as a primary beneficiary. Toast coats Worcester Community Action Council's annual Coat Drive for Kids provided new winter coats to all of the children enrolled in the agency's Head Start, Early Head Start and Healthy Families of Southern Worcester County programs, as well as provide for the children of teen parents enrolled in the agency's Job & Education Center – 400 coats in all.
