Butterflies of Hope Event raises money for domestic violence prevention Enfield-based The Network Against Domestic Abuse raised $37,000 during its annual fundraising event in Hartford, Butterflies of Hope. The funds will go toward assisting adult victims of domestic violence and their children, as well as prevention education. Apella Capital collects food donations Glastonbury financial planning firm Apella Capital LLC recently hosted a shredding event that collected food donations for the Manchester Area Conferences of Churches food pantry. The event brought over 100 people who shredded more than 3,000 pounds of documents while collecting 25 cases of food for those in need. Farmington Bank collects Thanksgiving food and donations for Hands On Hartford Farmington Bank joined forces with 102.9 The Whale and Whole Foods Market to host a two-week Thanksgiving food drive. More than 2,600 pounds of food and nearly $1,000 was raised and donated to Hands On Hartford's MANNA Community Food Pantry. OF NOTE At The First Tee's 20th anniversary Biennial Network Meeting in Orlando, the Connecticut chapter received two honors. Meghan Mazumdar, a ninth grader at South Windsor High School, received The First Tee's Outstanding Participant award; and Ted May, immediate past chair of The First Tee of Connecticut's board, received the Jack Stephens Leadership Award. Susan Rochford, Legrand North and Central America's vice president of sustainability, energy efficiency and public policy, received a 2017 Women in Sustainability Leadership Award at the 2017 Greenbuild International Conference and Expo.
