Lyman Orchards raises funds to fight breast cancer In honor of October's breast cancer awareness month, Middlefield's Lyman Orchards hosted two fundraising events including the Putt for Pink Golf Classic. Lyman Orchards presented Middlesex Hospital with checks totaling $4,500 in the interest of the prevention and treatment of breast cancer. Hartford Foundation holds "Greater Together" gala at Bushnell Approximately 500 donors, nonprofit representatives, elected officials and community members attended the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving's Greater Together gala at the Bushnell Center for the Performing Arts. The evening included arts and music performances and a keynote presentation from the Hartford Foundation's new president, Jay Williams. KNOX named 2017 Neighborhood Builder recipient Bank of America has named Hartford nonprofit KNOX, which focuses on beautifying city neighborhoods, its 2017 Neighborhood Builder recipient. Through Neighborhood Builder, the bank provides nonprofits with $200,000 in unrestricted funding, leadership development for the organization's executive director and emerging leader, and access to a network of peer organizations across the U.S. OF NOTE EMCOR Services New England Mechanical (NEMSI) was recently honored with a first place Design/Build Award by Contracting Business magazine. NEMSI was recognized for its work on the mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems for the new visual performing arts center at the Forman School in Litchfield. At the annual Construction Management Association of America (CMAA) National Conference in Washington, D.C., the Connecticut Chapter of CMAA was awarded the 2017 Chapter of the Year.
