All money raised will aid the people and regions affected by recent natural disasters throughout the country. The Greater Hartford Arts Council will award funding to 15 Hartford events taking place between Oct. 2017 and March 2018 through its Hartford Events Grants program. These grants support free, fam- ily friendly concerts, festivals and exhibits that draw community engagement. Hart- ford Events Grants are supported by the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving. Members of the Catalyst Endowment Fund have awarded $50,000 to the Con- necticut Center for Advanced Technol- ogy to expand programs that address the underrepresentation of young women in entry-level manufacturing jobs. CCAT will use the funds to grow its Manufacturing Careers Program and coordinate a series of "Women in Manufacturing" events. The Hartford Foundation has awarded a three-year, $240,000 general operat- ing support grant to Hartford Habitat for Humanity. The grant will help Habitat respond to the demands for its core pro- gramming and will also allow Habitat to develop its new Financial Freedom Center, based in Hartford's north end. The Aetna Foundation announced more than $2 million in grants to 25 nonprofit organizations across the U.S., as part of its Cultivating Healthy Communi- ties initiative. Grants from the Cultivating Healthy Communities initiative support organizations working to address social determinants of health, like access to healthy food and safe places to play. Hartford's Interval House received a $11,000 grant from the Hartford Founda- tion for Public Giving. The funding will di- rectly support victims staying at the agency's 20-bed confidentially located safe house. One of the nation's largest women-led life insurers, Royal Neighbors of America, donated $10,000 to the Fidelco Guide Dog Foundation to support women clients who will benefit from Fidelco's renowned German Shepherd guide dogs. Fidelco breeds, raises, trains and places guide dogs for a wide vari- ety of blind and visually impaired people. Movers & Shakers Spencer Maheu has joined Bethany-based building materials maker Laticrete as North America director of product management. Maheu will supervise the Laticrete team of product managers in driving product innovation across North America. He comes to Laticrete from Osborn International, a division of Jason Industries, where he led the product management, marketing and business development teams. Michael Mazzuca has been hired at People's United Insurance Agency as vice president, regional sales manager. Located in Hartford, Mazzuca will be responsible for developing new producers and recruiting new commercial sales talent for Connecticut and New York. Dr. Aditya Tadinada has been named editor of the Connecticut State Dental Association's (CSDA) quarterly publication, The Communicator, distributed to member dentists. Tadinada, an oral radiologist and assistant professor of diagnostic medicine, replaced Dr. Joseph Piecuch, who held the position for 10 years. Tadinada is a board-certified oral and maxillofacial radiologist; program director for the oral and maxillofacial radiology residency and director of student research for the UConn School of Dental Medicine; and chair of the American Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology's Electronic and Publication Committee. Michael S. Nappi Jr. has been named the new vice president within Hartford HealthCare's Community Network Division for Independence at Home. Located in Glastonbury, he is responsible for the overall strategic direction of the division. He will also oversee the promotion of services throughout the community. Nappi brings more than 12 years of senior leadership experience from nonprofit and private healthcare organizations. Nina Demeter, Alex Hubbard, Scott Milford and Matthew Pastor have joined the staff of Wethersfield retirement-planning firm Johnson Brunetti. Demeter joins the marketing team and is responsible for supporting the company's marketing efforts through analytics, strategy, ideas, and the maintenance of various digital platforms. She has been working in the marketing and advertising industry for more than five years. Hubbard is a member of the marketing team and is responsible for supporting the company's marketing efforts through ideas, analytics, strategy and maintenance of digital platforms. Milford joins the team of client relationship coordinators and will help manage educational workshops and advisers' appointments. Pastor is a financial-planning specialist and will build financial plans for prospective clients, support adviser appointments, and create a system and processes for financial planning across the sales department. He comes from Edward Jones, where he was a financial adviser. Jeffrey Sattler has joined Savings Institute Bank & Trust as senior vice president of commercial lending. Sattler will oversee managing and growing the bank's commercial banking business, including lending, leasing and deposit accounts throughout the greater Springfield and Enfield areas. He brings more than 35 years of experience in commercial banking at various institutions in the region, including playing an instrumental role in the formation of NUVO Bank & Trust Co. (now known as Community Bank N.A.), where, as president, he managed business relationships through the growth of the commercial lending department. Nicole A. Miner has joined Glastonbury- based insurance broker Smith Brothers as employee benefits account executive. Miner's responsibilities include managing and selling employee benefits products and administering and servicing group medical, Medicare, dental, life, disability and voluntary benefits, among other tasks. She previously was a benefits director and licensed agent with Dowd Financial Services in Massachusetts. Andrew J. Even has joined Goldberg Segalla as an associate in the law firm's workers' compensation practice group in Hartford. Even was previously with Mullen & McGourty PC. Even represents large and small employers, insurance companies and third-party administrators in workers' compensation claims before the Connecticut Workers' Compensation Commission. Dr. Veronica Maria Pimentel has joined St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center as a fellowship-trained specialist in maternal fetal medicine with St. Francis Medical Group. Pimentel is board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology and her clinical interests include prenatal diagnosis and medical complications of pregnancy. Pimentel — who, in addition to English, is fluent in Spanish, Portuguese, French and Cape Verdean Criolo — completed a residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Boston University Medical Center and a fellowship in maternal fetal medicine at Albert Einstein College of Medicine/Montefiore Medical Center, New York. Michael P. Cass has been appointed president and CEO of Glastonbury-based American Nuclear Insurers (ANI), effective Dec. 1. Cass has been with ANI for 29 years, most recently as senior vice president and general counsel responsible for legal and governance matters, and membership relations.
