UnitedHealth Group and United Way help stock local food pantry Members of UnitedHealth Group and The United Way recently volunteered at Asnuntuck Community College to pack individual toiletry bags for students who are using Asnuntuck's new food pantry. The employees also included letters of support and inspirational quotes with each of the bags. Jerome Home gala celebrates 85-year legacy More than 100 people gathered at Jerome Home to celebrate the New Britain-based assisted-living facility's 85th anniversary. The event included wine tasting presented by wine sponsor, Bottle Shop of Unionville. Jerome Home was established by Augustus S. Jerome in 1932. Interval House receives grant from Mary Kay Foundation Throughout Domestic Violence Awareness month in October, The Mary Kay Foundation awarded $20,000 grants to 150 domestic violence shelters across the United States. Hartford's Interval House was chosen to receive one of the annual grants to further the organization's efforts to combat domestic violence and provide services throughout the 24 cities and towns it covers. Interval House will use the unrestricted Mary Kay Foundation funding to maintain its 20-bed safe house and enhance services to victims in residence.
